Doctor Fava and his girlfriend, Leigh, were two of 500 enthusiastic cyclists who participated in Sunday, March 5th’s Philly Spin-in to raise money for pediatric cardiac patients under treatment at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP).
Leigh understands the need for pediatric cardiac funds all too well. She was born with a congenital heart defect called Hypo Plastic Right Heart Syndrome (HRHS). Although she counts her blessings that she’s in good health today, it’s only as a result of several surgeries in the past due to this cardiac condition.
The high energy fundraiser was held at CHOP’s Colket Translational Research building. The facility brought in 100 spin bikes especially for the event. Participants rode in shifts, with riders raising more than $200,000 to help “advance heart research, spur technological innovation and improve the lives of young patients with cardiac conditions.”
There’s still time to donate! For more information, please visit Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
